Does Anyone Else Think that the Concacaf GOLD CUP is fixed??

ok, lets think about this...obviously the tournament will make more money if the final is USA vs MEXICO (which it is now), but did anyone see the USA vs Canada game and the Mexico Costa Rica game?? Costa rica played with 10 players most of the game and ended up with 8 players at the end. The first 2 red cards were ridiculous decisions by the ref (american), the third one was deserved, after the game Hernan Medford, CRs coach, claimed that the tournament is rigged, then Canada was robbed of the game tying goal by the ref (mexican), it was probably one of the worst calls I have ever seen. I believe its rigged, Mexico is not that good anymore, USA is but they still were helped by the refs (against Canada AND panama) ANYONE ELSE AGREE??

I agree that the refs have sucked but I wouldn't go as far as to say that the cup is fixed.

I really think Mexico played better than Costa Rica. Not great but just better. All 3 red cards were deserved. Mexico also got a red card this tournament against Honduras.

Canada, on the other hand, as much as I would have liked them to beat the US, I seriously doubt they would have. The Mexican ref did suck bad. But, lets say that they would have gone on to extra time... Do you really think Canada would have beaten the US?... The way they played most of the game, I doubt it. The US controlled the whole match until the last 15 minutes when they, thinking they had won, held back and granted more space to Canada.

The cup IS ALWAYS fixed so that Mexico and the US meet in the final. Why?... because it is a better match for a final than, lets say... hmm... Bahamas vs. The Dominican Rep. They do it simply because Mexico and the US are (traditionally) the strongest teams in the region. They also "fix" teams in other international competitions like the UEFFA qualifiers for the World Cup and the World Cup itself.

Even though the Cup is "fixed" for Mexico and the US to meet in the final. Ever Since 1991 (the 1st. Gold Cup), they have only met twice and the last time was on 1998, almost a decade ago. ... (Just for the record, this year, they almost didn't meet if only Mexico would not have defeated Panama)...

One of the best things about soccer is that its always the ref's call. It helps the match to be a better spectacle. However, I do think many, many times it has happened that the refs favor or are actually bought by a certain team (remember Korea on 2002?...) But I really don't think this is the case in this tournament.

Anyways, that's what I think.
