Has anyone had a baby at the Phoenix Indian Health Services Center?
My husband and I do not have medical insurance and I am worried that if I become pregnant I will not be able to qualify for insurance because I'll already be pregnant and most require a waiting period. I do receive Tribal Benefits which allows me to get free health care. I have only been to the Indian Hospital in Phoenix once and the nurses at the Women's Health Clinic were very nice. I was just wanting to hear some other's exp. with having a baby there and everything. My husband is a little "iffy" about having a baby there.

I had my baby at the Northern Navajo Medical Center in New Mexico. I am white, but my husband is a tribe member. I received all my pre-natal care there, and had an emergency c-section. My experience was ok I guess, but I feel that if I had gotten more attention and time with my midwife I would not have had to deliver by c-section. Also, the follow up care was rotten, and I developed some complications from the surgery.
That being said, my baby girl cane out perfectly healthy, which is really all that matter.
